We are cooling. We are not warming. The warming you see out there, the supposed warming, and I am using my finger quotation marks here, is part of the cooling process. Greenland, which is now covered in ice, it was once called Greenland for a reason, right? Iceland, which is now green. Oh I love this. Like we know what this planet is all about. How long have we been here? How long? Not very long.

Former Middlebury president John McCardell is working to lower the drinking age in the United States back to 18. His organization Choose Responsibility and its partner organization the Amethyst Initiative have attracted plenty of attention recently, with this piece on 60 Minutes and another on the Colbert Report.

Joomla Displays Page Title on Front Page

This is for Joomla 1.5

Joomla was displaying “The Wampus Cat” in the article area on the front page of the site and I wanted it gone. Luckily user Crochunter at PowWeb Forums had a solution. It’s as easy as going into the admin interface, “Menus”, and select the menu with your default menu item in it (the menu with an asterisk “*” to the right of it). Click the default menu item (it has a gold star in the Default column), go to “Components (System)” on the right and find “Page Title”. It will be on “Show”, set it to “Hide”, save changes, and no more page title on the front page. (This title hiding tip works for all articles.)

The National Oceanographic and Aeronautical Administration records all manner of sounds underwater. This is a collection of them. Particularly interesting are the mystery sounds, like Bloop and Slow Down.
